A powerful word so often used,
Yet sadly one that's often abused,
By those who think they are in the right,
That it can be broken if to avoid a fight.
But is it really worth the price you pay?
To hurt those you love, at your dismay?
To break the bond you worked to build,
Only to leave it shattered and chilled.
In a cold, empty shell that once held your word,
Of promises, and hopes, but I guess it was absurd,
To think that it meant something more,
Than a voice to soothe an open sore.
The faith they once held in their heart,
Is now shattered, empty, and torn apart.
The voice once reassuring and sweet,
Now a broken record, repeating a shrill beat,
Of screeches that force hands to shelter the ear.
Repeated tracks aren't what they want to hear.
Now tears fall silently, from once hopeful eyes.
Are you happy now? To see them broken inside?
Trust isn't a right that you get handed for free.
It's a privilege you earn...and you lost it from me.
